Recently I have had some pretty nasty computer problems. It all started about a month ago when I was coming back home from a trip. I got back in and I was ready to get to work on a few things using, of coarse, my computer. It seemed to be working fine for that afternoon. But then night came. That's when it decided to die on me. I did everything in my power to get the fool thing running again. But alas, everything I tried was no good. So I gave the unit to my good friend Bob, who is a Computer Guru. And so I knew I could trust him with my machine. This was a huge thorn in my side because I needed my computer to get some stuff done for my other site. So, while Bob was working on the comp I had to pull out my old DELL. Which unfortunately had been eaten alive by a nasty virus a year earlier. The DELL is fixed now but it has some driver problems. And this resulted in NO SOUND! I needed sound to get the work finished. So once again I was screwed.
So finally Bob calls and let's me know the story about my sick machine. He said that the computer stopped working because of hardware failure. He was then going to re install Windows XP and some other components onto the machine and get it working again. Turns out it was a bigger problem than that. He informs me later that the hard drive was dying and there was nothing much he could do with it. So the only options where to toss the computer out or buy a new hard drive. I chose the ladder and being the nice guy that he is, Bob went out and got my a new hd for me. I got my comp back with the new hard drive installed and everything seems to be working fine. But I encounter yet another problem. I could not get my Internet to work. But with a little bit of twinking I'm happy to announce that my poor computer is working good now. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
From this experience I have noticed something. It seams that even if you keep your virus software updated and do your best to keep your computer healthy, something bad is going to happen to it. I'll bet you anything that the people at Microsoft put some sort of timer in your new top of the line computer. And when that timer goes off it triggers a devise that does an unspeakably horrible thing to your computers insides. And this forces you to upgrade to something better and that gives Bill Gates even more cash.
BAH! BAH I SAY!
Oh well. Much thanks to Bob for his hard work and patience. Truly you are a great friend.
