No, the other Asia

The year was 1981. Yes' Steve Howe, King Crimson's John Wetton, The Buggle's Geoff Downes, and ELP's Carl Palmer got together and formed a super group. They became a rock act that went against the flow of the time delivering a sound that was special and unique. They where known as one little word..Asia.
I'm not really a huge fan, but I went out and finally picked up there debut. Awesome album. I had listened to it a few times on the net in real audio format and enjoyed it. But nothing, Nothing compares to the digital glory of the actual CD. Asia's sound is strange. It seems to be a mixture of 70's prog and 80's cheese. (hair metal might be a more polite term) While I don't like the latter as much, Asia has a sound that I like a lot. It's difficult for me to pinpoint. Anyway, I'll be listening to this album for quite a while. Maybe in the future I'll get more of there material.

It has been a long time since I listened to Asia, but I remember their sound just being big. I mean huge. It just had this fun, over the top sound to it that made it instantly engaging.

Thanks for reminding me of them.
